Tottenham 10-4 Everton
Jimmy Greaves was in inspirational form through out the season, and already held the record of the being the youngest goal scorer in the league as he scored on his debut in a match against Chelsea in August 1957 at the tender age of 17. In a league tie between Spurs and Everton during the 1958-59 season, Spurs celebrated the appointment of Bill Nicholson as their new manager by thrashing Everton 10-4, with Jimmy Greaves scoring a fine hat trick. This proved to be the highest goal scoring match in the first division of the 20th century.
