The UEFA Cup final between Tottenham and Wolves provided two milestones in the history of English football as it happened to be the first European final between two English clubs. Martin Chivers was outstanding in the first leg as he scored to great goals at Molineux and the return leg at White Hart Lane proved to be a great night for tottenham fans. Alan Mullery made it 1-0, scoring an extraordinary header from a free kick taken by Martin Peters. Wolves equalized just before half time as David Wagstaffe gave them a life line. However Tottenham’s midfield held on with Pat Jennings resolute in goal, tottenham made football history.
