Ray Clemence

Clemence was one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time; he won nearly every available honor in the game. Clemence was a solid rock in goal in the Liverpool team of the 1970’s. At Liverpool, Clemence won 5 league championships, 3 European Cups, 2 UEFA Cups, the European Super Cup, the FA Cup and the League Cup. In his eleven seasons with Liverpool, Clemence missed only six league games out of a possible 462. He moved to Spurs in 1981 and he immediately won the respect of the Tottenham supporters. He won the FA Cup for a second time in 1982, this occasion with Spurs and he even made an appearance in the 1987 FA Cup Final, an encounter which Spurs lost to Coventry.

Ossie Ardiles
Two weeks after Argentina won the 1978 world cup, Tottenham bought Ossie Ardiles and Ricardo Villa. Ardiles certainly helped in transforming Spurs fortunes. Ardiles was a very enthusiastic, workaholic midfielder for Argentina, who never let his comparatively small frame shake him from his enthusiasm to thread through the most delicate of passes. With an accurate sense of balance, Ardiles was able to twist and turn, and then run at speed to apply the most pin point of passes to those in front of him. Impossible to faze, Ardiles was able to run through and ignore the most questionable of challenges.
