FA Cup Match: Coventry 3-2 Tottenham (FA Cup Final)
Date Played: 16th May 1987

The match began at a frantic pace and just after three minutes, Chris waddle picked up a clearance on the right and passed towards the post. Clive Allen firmly powerfully headed the ball past Steve Ogrizovic to put Tottenham 1-0 ahead. Only minutes later, Dave Bennet ran past Ray Clemence and tucked the ball into a gaping net to equalize. With five minutes of the first half remaining, Glenn Hoddle took a curling free kick finding Richard Gough who flicked the ball into the goalmouth. Both Mabbutt and Kilcline went for the ball together and it went into a gaping net. Twenty minutes into the second half, Houchens diving header provided Coventry with an equalizer. With the scores now level, Coventry now began to pile on all the pressure and Clemence had to make a number of fine saves and make the game go into extra time. Seven minutes into extra time, Lloyd McGrath passed the ball towards the Tottenham goal from outside the box. Mabbutt attempted to intercept, however the ball hit his left knee and flew over Ray Clemences head to make it 3-2.
