Glenn Hoddle
Hoddle was one of Spurs greatest players of the 1980’s; his partnership on the field with Chris Waddle was breathtaking. Ron Greenwood first picked Hoddle to star for England in 1979; however he did not become a permanent fixture in the first team for another 5 years. Hoddle was denied the opportunity to prove himself on the biggest stage when he spent the majority of the 1982 world cup finals on the bench. During the 1986 world cup finals, Hoddle used his brilliant skill to help England progress to the last eight in Mexico. Hoddle also played in the 1988 European championships for England; however that proved to be his last time playing football for England as they were eliminated in the group stage. Hoddle later on played for Swindon and Chelsea.

Chris Waddle
Waddle was an integral; part of the Tottenham set up during the 1980’s. He was inspirational during his long spell at White Hart lane and his brilliance earned him a moved to Marseille for a staggering £4.5 million in 1990.
Waddle made his first appearance for England in March 1985 against the Eire. Waddle always had to fight to maintain his place in the first team as competition for places were tight. During the 1988 European Football championships, Waddle was part of the England team that was knocked out in the group phase. The 1990 world cup finals in Italy showed the best and worst of Chris Waddle; he was accused of playing to deep in the early games. After his spell at Marseille, Waddle played for Sheffield Wednesday in the premier league.
