Tottenham 4-1 Manchester United
Date Played – 1st January 1996

Everything came right for Spurs on New Years day of 1996 as they hammered Manchester United 4-1. The match started at a fast tempo, as a highly organized Spurs team played the better during the early stages of the tie. Tottenham’s starting line up included Teddy Sheringham, Andy Sinton, Nick Barmby and Darren Anderton and they clearly looked the better team. Chris Armstrong gave Spurs the lead early on as his partnership up front with Teddy Sheingham, looked to be blossoming. In total Man United had 24 attempts at goal, however with a back line consisting of Sol Campbell, Steve Carr and Gary Mabbutt, United were only able to score one goal. Tottenham finished the match scoring four goals, two of them coming from Chris Armstrong.
